Using Medication for Weight Loss
Most people consider weight loss medication as a scam. But to dismiss it completely is foolish. There are
some versions of weight loss medication that can induce weight loss. Pharmaceutical companies around
the world are trying to find drugs for weight loss.
Many doctors and patients have no regard for anti-obesity medication. The traditional thought was that
obesity was caused basically by a lack of self control. But this attitude has changed drastically.
Doctors are increasingly recognizing that there are hereditary and physiological reasons for obesity. The
reasoning that obesity is a moral failing no longer holds good. Doctors say it is cruel to call over weight
people lazy or weak willed.
But the fact is that obesity is a killer. Therefore, doctors cannot restrict their treatment to just
prescribing diet and exercise. They also need to prescribe some medication. Therefore, efforts are on
worldwide to develop weight loss medication.
Regular exercise and balanced diet are recommended for most obese individuals. But some are also
prescribed weight loss drugs. Medication is prescribed usually if BMI (Body Mass Index) is over 27 or 30
and if patients suffer from diabetes, cholesterol or high blood pressure.
The following are the most common weight loss drugs:
• Orlistat: It stops the absorption of a third of the fat that you consume. Its common name
is Xenical and over the counter it is called as Alli. It is approved for long term use. It is
recommended that you be on a low fat diet before taking this drug. It is the only kind of drug in
its genre in the US. The rest of the drugs work by suppressing appetite.
• Belviq: It works by curbing appetite. But pregnant women and lactating women should not
consume this drug. FDA says that if you don’t lose 5% of weight after consuming the drug for 12
weeks, then you should discontinue the drug.
• Abedexin: It claims to reduce 400% more weight loss than only dieting. It contains 8 ingredients
that are clinically proven.
• Phenphedrine: This drug is useful for keeping appetite under control. It works with natural
suppressants of appetite in the human body by controlling the hormones NPY and CART.
Cocaine-amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) is a hormone that reduces the need to
eat and Phenphedrine boosts this hormone. NPY is a hormone that triggers food cravings.
Phenphedrine curbs the working of NPY. Combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise,
this drug can do wonders.
• Lean Max botanical diet: These are botanical slimming capsules that help in body de-toxification
and fat management. They work by absorbing oil from food, stop ingress of grease and prevent
fat accumulation. It is a totally safe and organic method of weight loss. It is also recommended
that you combine the drug with at least 10 cups of water per day, as well as, at least two full
meals a day.
• 7-DFBX: Do you want to lose weight for summer or want to impress friends; weight loss can be
a struggle. 7-DFBX helps to lose weight and boost energy. The drug has been formulated after 5
years of research and helps to lose weight safely and effectively minus harmful side effects. The
drug contains a wide variety of natural and clinically proven fruit content and anti-oxidants.
These are some of the drugs that aid in weight loss, but they must be complemented with balanced diet
and regular exercise.
